As a thoroughbred clarinettist and saxophonist
Anja Bachmann obviously cannot circumvent Trio d'anches: Trio d'anches has been here for centuries...and yet it has to be re-discovered.
Together with Yvonn Richter and Mei-Chu Lai, Anja Bachmann makes it all work. With dedication, enthusiasm and inquisitiveness they combed through music archives, studied compositions and began rehearsing.
It soon became clear for all three musicians: Their project "Trio Insolite" can and wants to accomplish more – more than just one sole evening of Chamber music, the foundation stone of Trio Insolite. They achieve a musical and colourful richness by playing instruments from different categories (Yvonn Richter on oboe, oboe d 'amore, and English horn; Mei-Chu Lai on bassoon and contrabassoon; and Anja Bachmann on clarinet, alto saxophone, and soprano saxophone).
Trio Insolite becomes “Quintessence Quintet” by including musicians for piano and horn.
The musical scope of Trio Insolite ranges from Baroque to the present day...and so can match (almost) any occasion (almost) anywhere.
