Renowned Bremen-born clarinettist and saxophonist Anja Bachmann has been performing as a soloist and as a chamber and orchestral musician for many years. She continuously inspires
great enthusiasm among audiences and music critics alike with her passionate, expressive and sensitive playing.
Anja is equally appreciated and admired for her very special dual talent as both a clarinettist and a saxophonist. Consequently, her extensive repertoire is remarkably diverse,
ranging from classical and contemporary music to jazz, tango and klezmer. This includes the clarinet concertos by Mozart, Weber, Françaix, Miles, and Copland as well as the
saxophone concertos by Glazunov, Romberg, Preu, and Freiberg.
Numerous engagements, including at MDR Music Summer with Mozart's Clarinet Concerto or world premieres such as the Saxophone Concerto by multiple Grammy winner Daniel Freiberg,
various productions at MDR and WDR as well as her CD recordings demonstrate the wide range of her cross-genre musical skills.
As an enthusiastic chamber musician, other focal points of her artistic work include her klezmer band Harts un Neschome, her ensembles Los Alegres, Timeless Harmony, Con Passione,
Charming Clarinets, Trio Stiletto as well as the Anja Bachmann Quartet.
In addition to her position as solo clarinetist of the Mittelsächsische Philharmonie Freiberg, she is a frequent guest in renowned orchestras, both as a clarinetist and as a
saxophonist. These include orchestras such as the WDR Funkhausorchester Cologne, the Robert Schumann Philharmonic in Chemnitz, Dresden Philharmonic, the Musikalische Komödie of
Leipzig Opera, and the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden.
Most recently, on the occasion of her 30th stage anniversary, she shone with Jean Françaix's Clarinet Concerto, which received an overwhelming response from the audience and the
press.
