Freie Presse Chemnitz - By Reinhold Lindner
"They make music with heart and soul anyway, because they are all professionals and play concerts and musical theater performances at the Mittelsächsisches Theater in Freiberg almost every
day. And when they sometimes get together spontaneously to play klezmer, they can always count on a great response. They always shared their enthusiasm for Yiddish music with the
audience.
The decision to form a band and prepare programs was an obvious one. The group Harts un Neschome has been playing together constantly since 2007 and has since toured Germany with concerts.
Anja Bachmann (clarinet), Kerstin Guzy (violin) Matthias Würthner (accordion), Tino Scholz (double bass), Hendrik Gläßer and Michael Winkler (percussion), all from Freiberg, have naturally
remained loyal to their fellow musicians in Central Saxony, without it being necessary to say that they play klezmer on the side. On the contrary, they play with heart and soul and thus
according to the essence of Yiddish music.
The band's fans are no longer dependent on concert events or spontaneous occasional appearances - for example at premiere celebrations in the theater: the group's first CD production has just
been released and is available in the offices of the Freie Presse. Harts un Neschome, which means heart and soul, is the name and program of the CD and also the character of the playing. In
terms of instrumentation and style, the band is based on the classics of klezmer music, but it is more than just perfect music-making in the sense of Jewish tradition.
Harts un Neschome is a commitment: playing klezmer with this band has nothing to do with a spreading fad. It is a legacy. The 19 tracks recorded on the CD all originate from the cultural
heritage of the eastern shtetl, they are dances and songs that have lent themselves to all kinds of occasions and have undergone many changes over the course of time. The spirited dances such
as the Mitzva or the Odessa Bulgar and a Hora alternate from title to title with cosy songs about love or lamenting hopelessness. Sometimes the mood in klezmer music suddenly changes from
seemingly uninhibited cheerfulness to deep melancholy. The band plays all of this with dedication, you can share the feelings with the musicians and warm your heart and soul to these
recordings. But it is also the joy of the instrumental music-making itself, the virtuosity and the musical exuberance, which is transferred to the listener.

A violin found a melody", is how the origin of klezmer music is described. The ensemble "Harts un Neschome" began collecting and arranging these melodies 10 years ago. In their preoccupation
with Jewish culture and its instrumental music, most of which is strictly bound to customs and tradition, they see themselves increasingly consciously involved in the revitalisation of this
culture.
Due to the overwhelming response from audiences after their concerts and the great success of their first CD "From Yiddish...to Klezmer", the Klezmorim have taken their 10th anniversary as an
opportunity to produce a new album entitled "Di Musik klingt asoj schejn - Klezmerdi tswaijte". The fans of "Harts un Neschome" can therefore look forward to a new programme in the concerts,
in which, as expected, music is once again played with "heart and soul", as well as to an enjoyable listen to the CD!
Harts un Neschome's second klezmer CD will be released at the beginning of September 2016, just in time for the Freiberg ensemble's 10th anniversary concert. Anja Bachmann, the outstanding
solo clarinettist of the Mittelsächsische Philharmonie, and her musician friends are joined by an enthusiastically loyal audience and followers in dancing joie de vivre and laughing sad
melancholy - bitter and sweet. The edition comes in an elaborately produced digi-file with accompanying text information in German and English about the ensemble.
